As music fans we sometimes lack patience when it comes to getting new music from our favourite artistes. We must understand though, that everybody’s process is different. Respect the process. To me, albums still serve as an important part of any artiste’s catalogue and if they can, artises should take the time out to get it just right. Especially your debut album. Alright, that’s enough rambling from me.

The long awaited debut album from Keznamdi is finally here! I must say that the wait was worth it. Following previous projects such as Bridging The Gap (2013) and Skyline Levels Vol. 1 (2017) Bloodline is a testimony to the growth of Keznamdi over the years and it shows how seasoned and confident he is in his craft now.

Bloodline is a nice mix of songs, mostly made up of reggae with a touch of dancehall and hip-hop. It has 11 tracks and it really is a good listen in it’s entirety. The whole production quality of the album is commendable. The album starts off with an ode to Skyline Drive – home of Skyline Levels (a popular venue for reggae shows in Kingston). The title track is the first of 3 really strong features and it is one of my favourites to listen to. On Bloodline, Keznamdi teams up with the soulful crooner Mortimer who sets the mood for the song as he does so well. Keznamdi really delivers on the verses as he speaks on what to expect as a new parent, the importance of good parenting and just being there for your kids. The next feature is City Lock (feat. Tory Lanez) which is a hard hitting dancehall track that has a lot of vibes and I like the groove that Tory added to it.

I think if you liked the Bridging The Gap EP you would probably appreciate Queen of the Ghetto. It is reminiscent of some of the songs from that project. He also included two of the fan favourites from Skyline Levels Vol. 1 on the album namely So Right and Victory (feat. Chronixx) In my opinion, these two are definitely in the Top 5 of his entire discography.

I really can’t pinpoint a weak song on this project. It is pretty much a solid effort right throughout. Keznamdi has been steadily growing over the years and it feels good as a fan to call it a success.

Favourite tracks:
Bloodline (feat. Mortimer)
Chillumpeng
City Lock (feat. Tory Lanez)
Love Mi Nuff
So Right
Victory (feat. Chronixx)
