The 6-track EP titled, Sine Energy was released on September 11 via music label, In Good Company. It features other young talents such as Leno Banton, Blvk H3ro and Jeeby Lyricist. Wavy also introduces us to some new names and faces, Kione Zaire, Ramia and Mila.Akilah who all represented well in their own right.
The soundscape of Jamaican music is definitely evolving and it is the perfect time for a project like this. The perfect time for something different. Speaking of different, that’s the vibe of the first track. We hear Leno Banton like we’ve never heard him before. With a different flow and playing around with melodies. Add this one to your early morning playlist, for those groggy mornings when you need an extra boost.
I like to say Blvk H3ro was in his R&B bag on this project. His impressive vocals can be found on WOAH, Call Me and Ketch Di Pree. Which just happens to be my favourites from the EP. He really added the curry gravy to each song. The box food connoisseurs will get that reference.
There is one instrumental track on the EP titled Birds with longtime collaborator Shawn J. Smith which serves as an interlude where we get to hear from some of the featured artistes and what they think about the project. This was a cool touch that just brought the whole thing together.
All in all, it’s a good debut effort that flows smoothly and is an easy listen. Wavy Jones is definitely one to keep an eye on. Rating: 7/10
